After two years as an agriculture extension volunteer in Peace Corps Bolivia, she returned to the United States and earned her Master's of Arts in Teaching from Pacific University in Eugene, OR, focusing on science and experiential learning. She began her teaching career in Vancouver, WA, teaching a variety of science classes. While there she created and developed a horticulture program and student-led urban farm. From 2016-2019, she taught middle school science at The Carol Morgan School, an international American school in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Amy then finished her Master’s of Science in agriculture from Washington State University and was an Organic Garden Educator at CMS. After being the Farm Education Coordinator at the Hotchkiss School for 3 years she has relocated to Bend, OR. She is excited to get growing in the High Desert!

ABOUT TAKE ROOT

Amy's purpose is to reach people who want to grow their own food but may not know where to start. She wants to help people gain the knowledge of edible gardening and empower them to take ownership of their health and wellness, while also improving the soil and community around them.

Take Root's services help take away the fear and overwhelming feeling that gardening can sometimes cause. She will help you to better understand your garden, the micro-climate you live in, and help you feel more safe and comfortable in nature, while gaining the knowledge and understanding to grow a successful edible garden.

Gardening is also a huge part of our history. Celebrate your culture and heritage through food and nourishment... come together in growing your food, sharing with others, and enjoying your harvest with loved ones.
